Sometimes you’ve just got to tip your hat at them. Isotonik Studios have done it again. Here’s a new Ableton Live control surface script that gives you mixer, device and session control using the new Korg NanoKontrol bluetooth controller.
Here’s what the good folks at Isotonik tell us about NanoKontrol Studio XL:
THE LATEST CONTROLLER FROM KORG THROWS BLUETOOTH CONTROL INTO THE MIX...
"We first clapped our eyes on Korgs’ new NanoKontrol Studio months ago and a wave of nostalgia hit us, we’d been using the original NanoKontrol for years and had loved the ability for it to have it’s controls edited so it could mimic lots of other controllers. Plus it was so small i could even sneak it into my work bag for a sneaky little mix down at lunchtime…"
ITS INTEGRATION WITH ABLETON LIVE LEFT A LOT TO BE DESIRED THOUGH. SO NOW KORG BRINGS YOU THE FUTURE... AND WE XL IT!
With the previous Nano range bidirectional LED feedback wasn't possible, now it is and so we've created three scenes of Ableton Live Control, leaving a further two for your own user mappings!
Faders for Volumes, Encoders for Pan or Sends and then the labelled buttons look after Track Select (flashing buttons indicate which track is selected), Rec Arm, Solo and Mute...
You can Fold and Unfold groups directly from the controller and switch views between device and clip.
Oh and there's an on screen Ring Focus (Red) Box which can navigate around your set, it's also LaunchSync Series compatible so this tiny controller can become a nice add on to say an Ableton Push or Novation LaunchPad...
Switch into the second scene and the Encoders give you macro control over the currently bluehanded device. We've given the ability to switch between devices on a track with the Solo Buttons and you can additionally move between banks of 8 parameters at a time.
Don't like the way that Ableton have configured the parameters or the banks? Then the NanoKontrol Studio XL is also compatible with our PrEditor Mapping utility which allows you to define your own custom automaps for all of Live's native effects and Instruments as well as VST's, AU's and MaxforLive devices - MORE DETAILS
The final additional scene gives you control over the clip grid is Session View with an 8 x 4 clip launching grid using the controllers buttons.
Trigger Clips and Scenes, Stop, you know the drill... Oh and we've added Session Overview so you can jump around to anywhere in your set (each button represents a block of 8 x 4 clips, it's lit if clips are present and flashes if any clips are playing within it)
In line with our other XL Control Surface Scripts you the user can define a set of options to personalise your controller even further.
