FL Studio 12.5 Pattern & Clip Playlist Feature Revealed
Rounik Sethi on Fri, February 17th | 0 comments
Imagine being able to switch between clips and patterns in FL Studio using a playlist... Image Line have unofficially announced an excellent new playlist feature coming to FL Studio 12.5.

Whether you use FL Studio or not, you have to admire the way Image Line communicates with its users. Instead of waiting until FL Studio 13, they liked this new feature they've been working on so much they're going to roll it out with the upcoming 12.5 update. FL Studio 12.5 looks like it'll be the last update until version 13. But let's find out more about this stunningly cool new feature...

Scott from Image Line took to the FL Studio forums to thank Shinyles who is bringing the Pattern/Clip feature to life. The features include being able to: reorder, rename, recolor patterns/clips. You'll also be able to choose multiple selections, drag-n-drop, zoom in/out. They are figuring out the best way to enable automatic playback of clips as you roll over clips, and this feature also handles automations clips and audio clips.

According to Shinyles, One there "is a "select in playlist" menu entry, that will select all related clips in the playlist, and make them flash. Pretty useful when you're tracking down everything related to a source pattern/audio clip/automation clip."

Now before you get too excited about playlists... there's no guarantee all the above pattern and clip playlist features (and the many that have been suggested by FL users on their forums) will be implemented in FL Studio 12.5. But the team are working to bring at least the basic features to 12.5 before the FL Studio 13 Beta begins.

Either way, it's comforting to see Scott and the developers from Image Line communicating openly and directly in a two-way dialogue with customers of FL Studio. And the playlist features are likely going to be excellent as a result.
