Cakewalk's SONAR “Gloucester” introduces support for Microsoft’s new, critically acclaimed Windows 10 operating system plus numerous enhancements and fixes. Here's more info about what you can expect.

Boston, MA, (July 30, 2015) – Cakewalk, dedicated to powerful and thoughtfully designed software for modern musicians, announces the new July 2015 “Gloucester” release for SONAR Artist, Professional, and Platinum.

In keeping with Cakewalk’s position at the forefront of Windows development, Gloucester is the first major DAW with full support for Windows 10, Microsoft’s latest operating system. Cakewalk began testing early on to ensure smooth, rock-solid performance; after exhaustive analysis, SONAR “Gloucester” has passed the Windows 10 certification process.

Windows 10, whose development was led by a new team that placed great importance on user and developer feedback, has already received highly favorable reviews. According to Noel Borthwick, Cakewalk CTO, “Windows 10 is a mature version of Windows that might just be the best OS release from Microsoft. It’s great to see features in there that benefit both audio professionals and consumers.

The overall user experience is smoother and initial benchmarks show that it performs equally or better than Windows 8. With the new continuous integration model combined with Microsoft’s attention to the audio industry, this free update for Windows 7 and 8 should be very beneficial for most DAW users.

In addition to Windows 10 compatibility, SONAR “Gloucester” includes many fixes and enhancements based on community input, and is the sixth monthly release since the new SONAR model of rolling updates was introduced in January 2015.

The SONAR Membership Release eZine provides tutorials, tips, and descriptions of all the new features. Learn more about the new SONAR “Gloucester” release, and see a preview of what’s planned for the near future.
