Yes. Audio lanes in FCP are much more flexible and customizable.

Lanes allow you to create colors, tracks don't allow colors.
Lanes are rigid with few configuration options, tracks are very flexible and easy.

How do you mute (or disable) a clip in the Timeline?
Select the clip and press the Delete key.
Select the clip, and in the Inspector, drag the Volume slider all the way to the left.
