    Live 8 tempo
Hello, please help. I have a 32 track protools song that was mixed and recorded in protools. (all audio tracks) My question is as follows: I want to load all 32 tracks into live an time and eventually retune all the vocals. The vocals are no problem for tuning, however I cannot figure out how to time all the tracks so it works perfectly with the live tempo set.For example the start time is the same for all the tracks, so if I load the tracks into live with the warp (in prefs) off,it works perfectly,BUT it is not in sync with the LIVE tempo. I just can't seem to figure it out. I want to sync everything perfectly so I can add some additional live loops and record to the click track. Any advise would be greatly appreciated... Thank you

Hey, no problem.....shift select all of your pro tools stems in the browser. Drag them into the Arrangement window of a live set. Visually confirm that all 32 tracks are perfectly aligned at the region start. Switch to the Session View with the tab key and confirm that Warp is 'off' on all 32 tracks. Turn on the metronome. Play the track and click drag the tempo field until the metronome matches the track as exactly as possible. That should be the tempo of the song. Hope that helps.... bb

Bill, this is an interesting problem... I am curious to know why the resulting tempo in Live simply isn't the original Pro Tools tempo when the music was recorded. Does Live establish a new tempo for some reason? Thanks!

Hi, does the "tempo" in your original PT session also match the song tempo? You can record 178 bpm speed metal into a session thats set to 52 bpm in PT and the song itself will still be in 178. You can use your ears to double check all this. Open your Live set, the one that has the metronome in sync. Start playback. Then in the Live browser, go to one of the original PT tracks and select audition. Make sure RAW is selected. It should be playing back exactly in sync, (from a different start point of course) as the currently playing Live set. Hope this helps......bb
