Core 101 is meh
I fell in love with MPV because of their Reason tutorials The dude who does ableton 8, seems to be more concerned with making some jokes than explaining the interface Maybe I need to stick with it longer, but it feels like he just mentions the features and applies to an incredibly specific situation. Idk, it just doesn't meet the standard I thought MPV would have What do you think? Is it the program? The instructor? Or just bad listening skills? Anybody else share the sentiment?

Ableton is a great application and there is normally more than one way of achieving things in Ableton due to it being a bit of a different DAW. Bill Burgess's tutorials is an introductory tutorial to Ableton and its interface. I would say take a look at the following tutorials as well to get a better idea of what is capable in Ableton: http://www.macprovideo.com/tutorial/ableton-live-8-hooked-on-racks. Ableton's Racks are amazing and really makes a difference to your workflow. You can achieve things with Racks, which are a bit harder to achieve in other DAW's. And especially Olav Basoski's tutorials if you are wishing to going into producing your own electronic dance styles in Ableton: http://www.macprovideo.com/tutorial/live8404 http://www.macprovideo.com/tutorial/live8402 Olav has a great way of explaining Ableton on how to apply its techniques to your own productions. I hope this helps.

I have to agree with you about Olav. I have been producing for a number of years and have done pretty much all the tutorials there are including sonicacademy.com and pointblank online (which is incredibly expensive) and i have to say, Olav is the best at explaining things. I normally stay up till quite late when i'm doing the tutorials and i often find that through the week i fall asleep through a lot of tutorials. This hasn't happened with Olavs videos as he keeps you interested throughout, and he makes me laugh! The only other person that ranks as highly in my book is D. Ramirez, he has some great free tutorials on youtube which i would recommend
