    midi sound level
I was playin around with a keyboard in GB and downloaded the files from Nektar. I didnt see any prompts from GB regarding it although the prefs midi says it sees 2 devices. ...the midi does work when I make a new track but I notice the sound levels are very different depending what sound you choose...?? I adjusted the track levels but some synth sounds are low. I got HELM to work also. What might be going on?? Also in order to use the DAW integration what do I have to do? I know the zip file got processed. I got the file for Logic and GB.I am new to midi keyboards and this one is the Impact LX 49+. thanks

    1) It’s not surprising that different sounds—especially different plug-ins—may be at different levels; you can compensate either with an output level control within the plug-in (if there is one) or with the volume slider on the track. 2) Here's the link to the page where Nektar describes the DAW integration between Impakt 49+ and GarageBand & Logic (scroll down to the bottom). The charts should indicate what you can control from the keyboard (there a video to illustrate for each DAW).. https://nektartech.com/impact-lx49-61-plus/ The installation guides are here (sounds simple enough).. https://nektartech.com/garageband-setup-and-troubleshooting-impact/ https://nektartech.com/logic-setup-and-troubleshooting-impact/ Starting on page 8 the PDF manual describes the DAW integration presets. This seems a little more complicated, you’ll probably want to read through it carefully, trying things out on the keyboard as you go.. http://support.nektartech.com/Downloads/Impact_LX+_User_Guides/Impact_LX49+_61+_User_Guide_ENG_1.0.pdf

you might know this controller...is there any sequencer type feature on this keyboard...?like it remembers a 16 note passage etc...? I kind of wish there was a course you could go to in person put on by Nektar and get a good learn on these things.. I wonder if they would consider something like that... another thing...when I make a new track midi and adjust the volume it seems the new track is hard to hear with the others but the levels are all about the same at -4 or so...what db do you aim for on tracks ? I just go by some yellow ,no red. Up to that. Is it possible to set up a controller like this to play without a computer and just an amp and speakers and some kind of sound module..??

Q: ..what db [level] do you aim for on tracks ?.. If you keep all the individual tracks under around -6 or so your overall level should be ok—just make sure the master level stays under around -3 more or less. Not all tracks will necessarily be that high of course, it depends on what level they need to be in the musical mix..
