Auditioning samples in ultrabeat
Hello Macpros, I have ultrabeat 8.0 and I'm not been able to audition the samples while loading the osc.2. I have ultrabeat tutorial and notice that at this point of the program (The sound generators-08: Osc 2 sampler part 1) ultrabeat 7 is used as example. Is there anything different that I need to do in order to listen to samples while loading ultrabeat 8 or is this a bug I am having? Thank you very much for your attention Dedoni

Hi Dedoni, Welcome to the forums! Unfortunately, this is a bug in Ultrabeat in Logic 8. We're all hoping for a fix in the next Logic update. My workaround is to open a Finder window of the folder of samples and audition them there. and then drag the desired sample into the OSC 2 sample window. Not ideal for most, but it's a technique I like. Cheers Rounik

Hi Rounik, Thanks for your reply. I've already thought of that but unfortunately I'm also not been able to drag the files directly to the sampler. The solution I found was to audition through the finder and than load the sample inside ultrabeat. It's very tiring and not practical so if anyone comes with a better idea please let me know. Cheers Dedoni

Hi Dedoni, It should work ok dragging files from a finder window... 1. What type of file are you trying to drag in? 2. Are you dragging into the sample window when the OSC2 is turned on? 3. Are you running Logic 8.0.1? 4. What version of OS X are you running? Cheers Rounik

Also, If you are trying to drag apple loops into Ultrabeat, .caf files are currently not supported - but .aif files work fine. If that is the case, check out this thread: http://www.macprovideo.com/forum/logic/logic-pro-express&id=8240&sid=#8307 Cheers Rounik

Hi Rounik I'm running logic 8.0 and my computer is a Mac os x 10.4.9 Intel core 2 duo. I was trying to drag apple loops that's way it wasn't working. Thanks for that. One more question. I'm not being able to audition ubs files in the finder. What should I do? Many thanks Dedoni

Hi Dedoni, I'll check again but I think: If you're using Logic 8.0 then you should be able to preview .ubs files through Ultrabeat. If you are using Logic 8.0.1 then it's a known bug. You can't preview ubs files in the Finder. Cheers Rounik

Hi Dedoni, Unfortunately, I believe there is no other way to audition .ubs files. The only way, until Apple release a fix, will be to load the file into Ultrabeat and play it there. Thanks, Rounik
