Hello, I really wish professor, David Isaac had used more than one song and discussed more acoustic instruments than just the Flute. The flute like the voice in that it requires a lot of air due to the opening of the mouth peace and has very little resistance. I think the other orchestra instruments would have been a great idea. Acoustic Guitar would have been another option. If he does more tutorials in the future I will try to get those.

But stay tuned ... we're working on some cool stuff that I hope you'll find interesting ... we do intend to do a lot more tutorials on real instruments ... it's just a lot more time and very expensive compared to doing stuff in the electronic realm. But we're committed!! (or we'll BE committed for trying ... )

Martin, I hope you didn't take this as rude. I didn't intend on it being that way. In the states a lot of the big schools hire professors who have done something or have that type of experience to teach there rather than people with a lot of degrees. I would be surprised to know that a lot of the people who hold the rights to those songs would not be interested in licensing a part of the song to help others learn. I am looking forward to what comes next. I am glad you got David to do this tutorial as it opens up an awareness in the mix. As far as Waves and the other plugins go I really wish Apple would pick up the ball and run with that. Thanks, AW

Not at all ... sorry ... just trying to explain. I listen to all comments with eager ears ... People will license anything to you for money ... all you have to do is pay. Considering the low cost of our tutorials, that can be pretty prohibitive. RE. The plugins ... a lot of people have complained about the fact that David uses some 3rd party plugins too. I told David to do this, in part because I think it's important for the newer logic users to se what plugins the pros use, and also because Logic's built in plugins are not really up to the task of professional mixing when it comes to compression and EQ (don't get me wrong though, i love the Channel EQ for creative effects). Some are quite good, but if you want a transparent limiter to pump your sound, you're not going to find it in Logic. The adaptive limiter sort of works, but not like the ozone David uses or the Waves L3 which is my weapon of choice ... and frankly, if you're not using a good transparent limiter, your probably not going to get your music on the radio because it isn't going to have the pump or RMS volume required. But, we learned our lesson here ... future tutorials will only use Logic's plugins, because we've received a lot of hate mail over this one ... SO yes, I agree ... Apple should step up their plugins so we can make better tutorials "out of the box" ... :) Anyway, please don't worry about offending me ... my skin is thicker than a rhino's after all the years I've been doing this ... I take everything constructively ... :)

Martin, I am glad he used the 3ed party plugins because I wouldn't have known about what's needed but I have learned a lot because of this post you sent and by seeing some such as the ozone 3. I think I would like to buy a few of the needed ones. Thanks Again, Alan

Hi Martin, I just thought I'd pip in and say I'm really really GLAD David used 3rd party plugins which I guess just goes to show you can't please everyone. In my mind it seems a false economy to only use Logic's plugs as a) it's not what people do out in the real world and b) the talent giving the tutorials will have to adopt their ears and workflows when shifting to only using logic's plugs. I want to be able to hear the difference. It might add to the time but maybe the tutor could give a quick demo of a logic plug example vs a 3rd party one that way you know why they're using aftermarket to achieve the sound they want? That would be much more valuable.... well, I think so. I think this series is fantastic and I would hate to see it change to accommodate for such daft reasons! 2c that used to be in my pocket.

Hey Yadj, Thanks for the input! I very-much like the idea of juxtaposing Logic's plugz against 3rd party plugz ... that solves both problems! :)

Hi Martin, I'm actually quite disappointed to find out that you've received hate mail about the use of 3rd party plugins in the tutorial. People need to realise that the reason a producer uses 3rd party plugins is because they do things that Logic's included plugins can't. If someone is interested in learning how a producer gets such good results - the answer is they use good plugins, and knowing which professional plugins to invest in is really valuable knowledge, as is seeing a pro demonstrate how to use them. David Isaac used the Sonnox Inflator plug to get the vocals really fat. How do you get that effect in Logic? Basically you can't. Does it sound good? Heck yes it does! I agree however that including information about achieving a SIMILAR effect using Logic plugins alongside the 3rd party plugs is a good idea. But PLEASE don't stop using them!

In the U.S. there are people to contact to take care of it. I personally stand against aggressive behavior and I stand against verbal abuse. It's part of the reason I wound up like I am. I want a "pro" to explain and show the tools they use to get "pro" results, not dumb down (sorry, no disrespect intended) to the lowest common denominator. I find the compressors "ok" in logic, but don't like the EQs at all. just my opinion
