    couple of midi questions...
I have two different items: 1. when editing midi, I like to be able to play a section and hear all notes, regardless of where the play-head is positioned. Right now, I need to back-up to the beginning of midi events to hear those events. 2. not necessarily a midi-specific question, but is there a way to copy automation data from one track to another? Cut & paste functions don't seem to work, though maybe I'm just using the wrong selection tool...

Hi 1. File > Project settings > MIDI... [Chase] Tick "Notes". Logic will now play MIDI notes even if the playhead starts after the MIDI note's beginning position. 2. To copy automation to another track you need to convert track based automation to region based automation and then copy the region to the new track and convert it back to track based automation. 1. create a new lane for your track (Option-CMND-M) 2. Creat an empty region on that new track lane. stretch the region as long as the automation lasts. 3. Choose: Options > Track Automation > Move all/current track automation to region 4. Move or copy the region to a new lane on the other track. 5. Choose: Options > Track Automation > Move all/current region data to track automation Cheers Rounik

May I add that the automation can also be copied to another track if Logic Pro > Preferences > Automation > Move Automation with Regions is set to "Ask" or "Always". I usually set this preferences to "Ask" so that I have the choice to copy or not the automation. You simply copy a region to a new track and Logic will ask you if you want to copy the automation at the same time. Christian
