    Hi Alrobi, It depends on what and why you're recording a vocalist... Generally, for most genres, vocalists are recorded using a single microphone in mono. If needs be you can add stereo effects to the track or if you want a chorused feel get the vocalist to sing a few takes very close to the original and pan them as desired and/or delay of of the vocal tracks for a chorused feel.     Thank Rounik, i am asking about this because i am reading a lot about Blumlein recording technics, i dont know if you ever tried this type of recording, i tried the ORTF dont really like it, not bad but not significaly better for all the trouble Al

    It is a multiple mic s recording to obtain a nice wide stereo and more dampness and amplitude with any phase cancellation. Go, ask on Google search, there is a lot of explanation about it, i have a singer coming in next week and i will tried it and let you know my feeling about it Thank you

    Hi, IMHO, it's better to record a solo singer in mono unless you really want to capture the room's ambiance. Of course, it's totally different if you want to record a choir... Christian
