I've encountered a situation a couple of times recently when recording audio. I have only recently added distortion and other effects to my recorded guitar tracks, but I'm finding the effect(s) will also be on a new midi track when I go to record those. More specifically, the sound of the effect(s) will be on the new track, but won't show up under the Inserts list. Any ideas why there would be any connection between those two?

hi, are you recording with effects on ,i.e you have created an input track in the environment with effects on it. if this is the case you will need to bypass the insert effect on that track if you wish to record other tracks dry.

another thought, when u record on a midi track is the audio track still record enabled.

It appears that Input Monitoring was the culprit. If that was still on for the audio track I had recorded, whatever effects were on that would be on the software instrument as well. Seems to be fine. thanks
