what the heck ??
I can't seem to watch MacProVideo tutorials when my Logic Application is open... no sound, also when I have iTunes open the sound goes all scratchy... only when logic is open I'm on OS X 10.4.11 and use Logic 7.2.3 and use a M-Audio Firewire 410 interface 1.3.2 - I use outputs 1&2 to feed my speakers and have optical outs sent to my Mac from Firewire

Hi Jeff, I'm moving this thread to the NED sub forum for Mac. I have (and never have had) a problem running NED while Logic or other applications have been running... Please contact support directly on this: http://www.macprovideo.com/support/ Also, try: 1. restarting your mac 2. Repairing permissions 3. disconnecting the m-audio and using built-in audio for Logic, iTunes etc. Thanks, Rounik

Hi AlRobi, Good point! I don't use optical. Could you test out using optical and analog and NED and Logic and iTunes? Thanks Rounik

Hi Jeff, what is the reason why you tried to connect your firewire in Optical to your Mac and at the same time output in Analog, i do not understand the purpose, most of App do not work good in Optical and sometimes not at all, Optical it is target on very specific work like i am telling you in previous, i only use it with my ADAT because i have to for other audio task never AlRobi

Hey AlRobi, Please, don't put yourself down!! I'm no expert with optical in's and out's so your expertise and knowledge are much valued! These forums are a community (a friendly and open one) and your suggestions and contributions are always appreciated. Thank you for testing this out :-) @ Jeff, I would be interested to know why you are using optical outs in your setup too... Cheers Rounik

Re: what the heck ??
Hey Guys No particular reason - when I first purchased my Mac - I was unfamiliar with Firewires and audio interfaces - so I purchased optical cables to route the "audio signal" back to my Mac from my audio interface. Is it necessary to re route the signal or does the Firewire cable take care of that? I figured optical was the ultimate connection. - this all started because i had issues running my audio monitors from the audio output at the rear of my MacPro- I've since sent them from my audio interface outs 1&2 thus I thought i need to re route signal back to the Mac ( I used the optical cabels) - I have my audio sound settings set to "Firewire 410 Multichannel" - I don't have the "optical digital in port" selected. thanks for the help Jeff

Jeff, connect your firewire and use the in and out of your M-Audio and with the M-Audio software go in the output mixer and you can controlled the volume of your monitors but dont forget to assigned firewire on your Mac and in Logic AlRobi
