Can you try to record on your external drive ? Let me know if it change anything. Also, did you delete Logic preferences like Rounik suggested ?

hmmmm.... OK. I've finally found some info on this issue! I remember in Logic 7 there was a setting to turn on/off the automatic waveform overview creation... But, in Logic 8 it is by default always on. Try this: "Preferences/initialize all but key commands" then try recording...

Great! Glad it worked for you! :-) Try putting the plist file back into the prefs folder. Should be ok... Infact, Logic has already created another pref file in the meantime. Cheers Rounik

I just opened Logic 7 and you're right Rounik... the option is under Logic Pro > Audio > General. Just make sure that "Create Overview after Recording is checked.
