Stripping the silence for ride cymbals
I was wondering how you would be able to strip silence a jazz ride cymbal and then quantize it. When I do this, there is a big problem with the decay of the ride, so when the silence is stripped the cymbal stutters. Usually a jazz ride cymbal does not completely go into silence when the drummer plays it. Your attention to my question is greatly appreciated. Take care. Dean

Hi Dean, Increase the post release time in the strip silence window to allow the decay as much time as possible. If it still sounds like the ride has been cut off prematurely, then you could add a little reverb to simulate a more realistic tail. Let us know if that helps :-) Rounik
