Levels on Chorus hitting -1.5 db, too loud?
I'm using Logic 8, and the chorus of my song is consistantly hitting -1.5 db. Should signals never get this high during the mixing stage? Does this mean that I need to turn the monitors up more and turn down the levels on the Logic mixer? How do most engineers layer tracks without having the sum of the signals driving the master bus into red?

Hi Sourberry, IMHO It depends on the engineer... Personally, I try to make sure that at no stage does my mix hit 0dB. Many times I will try and leave between 3-6dB headroom or so. You can either turn down the levels of the individual tracks and/or use compression to even out the peaks and average levels. Depending on what I'm making I would also use limiters and adlimiters... Having said all that, I'm not an engineer ;-) Cheers Rounik
