Typically there is a period of, I think, 90 days where upgrades are free ... so if you purchased within 90 days of the product release Apple should upgrade you. They have in the past, anyway ... Although I don't write it anymore, I'm sure there's a new APTS Logic book coming ... if history is any indication, it'll be about 4 or 5 months before it hits store shelves.

That I don't know. When I was the lead trainer for Logic we typically only gave NFRs to people in the class. I doubt Apple will give them to all educators due to the number of trainers out there. But again, I don't know. If you re-certify for version 9, then I'm sure you'll get one. Those Logic NFRs are hard to come by ...

Hi mtec, When I went on the T3 for Logic Last year I received a NFR copy of Logic Studio. But AFAIK no trainer will receive a free copy of the latest Logic Studio unless they do the T3 for Logic 9. I think the benefits and costs for Pro App T3 courses have been recently changed. Not even sure if Trainers are entitled to a NFR copy as it was meant to be for AATC's from what I was told. I have also heard stories (yes, already) of customer who purchased Logic within the last month/two weeks, called Apple and were told that they could not get an upgrade to Logic 9. I would leave it a couple of days until after the din has died down and approach an Education specialist or the link of the Training manager (who you would have met at the T3)... Cheers Rounik p.s. All current Logic Trainers will be sent an email with all details on how to re-certify.

I hope it does make a difference! That's a shame that PPC Mac's are not supported. Considering that Snow Leopard will be Intel only and is being released in September it was only a matter of time before Apple discontinued support of PPC Mac's with it's Pro App Software... especially given there will be a transition from 32bit to 64bit over the coming year or so.

I've also been reading stories from people who'd just purchased LP8, and were told 'no free upgrade' from Apple.

So my employer has just spent a grand and i cant teach the certified course with it as its changed to L9. such is life, but it sucks big time
