Recording on the fly
I have logic 7.2 One of ways I enjoy making music is recording on the fly. I know ableton is probably all about this. I'm not sure if a tutorial covers this. I have an 4 audio and 4 midi tracks all ready recorded. I want to be able to a trigger track group with a key on my keyboard so that when playing back every time I press a key (within a certain octave) on my keyboard it plays a group of tracks or a single track or bus, etc. I'm sure I could probably do this in the sampler may theres another way?

Hi K1, Sounds like a job for 'Touch Tracks' :) Here's a few existing threads I found about them: http://www.macprovideo.com/forum/logic/logic-pro-express&id=2339&sid=#2339 http://www.macprovideo.com/forum/logic/logic-pro-express&id=2339&sid=#2431 http://www.macprovideo.com/forum/logic/logic-pro-express&id=3034&sid=#3034 http://www.macprovideo.com/forum/logic/logic-pro-express&id=15824&sid=#15824 Let me know how you get on. :) Rounik

Hi K1, That's a good point. It seems Touch Tracks have not been covered in a tutorial yet (Steve H. you reading this? ;-) But I think the instructions in the last link (in my previous post) should do the trick. If you need further help do let me know. Best Rounik

I tried following the tutorial post and I still can't figure it out. am I connecting the touch object into any audio object in the environment, the audio instrument track the exs24 is on? I tried dragging the midi region on the key in the touch object screen and I couldn't hear anything even during playback.

Hi K1, You have proved exactly why we should make a video tutorial on this topic ;-) My bad typo I'm afraid. It should read 'Assign the Touch Track to a new track in the Arrange'. There is no need to connect the Touch Track object to anything in the Environment. If you have audio regions, they need to made into an EXS24 Sampler Instrument and a MIDI region (which triggers the audio sample) can then be created in the Arrange and dragged onto the Touch Tracks interface. Let me know if this works for you. Best Rounik
