Do I keep the master level at 0.00 while doing this on the output track?

There's a school of thought that says the Output channel must be kept at 0dB... and another that says it's not important. I go with the later. It's not important, as long as your individual channels are not [b]audibly[/b] clipping and defintiely the output level meter is not clipping (going into the red).
