    Velocity control in Piano Roll
Hey guys, First of all... LOVE the vids... I've learned so much and now record my students playing using LOGIC! Which brings me to my question. I make rehearsal CD's for them by scanning the piano score into Sibelius and then exporting it as a midi and then import that midi into Logic. Follow? However, it is very quantized and all the velocities are all the same and it sounds too fake. I've been going in and changing the velocities one by one!! Very time consuming... can you randomize velocities of a bunch of midi notes like you can randomize velocity in ultrabeat? If so how? I've control, option and command clicked EVERYTHING looking for it in the editor!! Second question.... to make it a little less quantized I know you can alter the Qflam (like for chords)... however... it doesn't seem to work with my imported midi files from Sibelius. I set the flam and the notes just stay quantized perfectly. Is there something I'm missing? I know it's just a rehearsal CD and the quantized music can be arguably better for practice... however, it would be nice to be able to use this music for solo performance as well. Any help is appreciated.

Hi School of rrRock! Thanks for the kind words! I think you'll love the Transform window in Logic! If you've got the Logic 201: https://www.macprovideo.com/tutorial/logic9201 It's covered in great depth there :) Here's How: Select the region or notes in any MIDI Editor. Choose Command-4 (opens transform window) Under Presets you'll find 'Humanize' This will randomize the position, velocity and length. Click on Select and Operate as many time as you need to make it sound "human" :) Let me know how you get on. :) Rounik

Thanks Rounik !! That's exactly what I was looking for. I do have the 201 tutorial, but didn't get to that part yet :( Thanks again for pointing me in the right direction. Always something new to learn. Cheers.

No problem School of Rock! The Transform window is incredibley powerful. It's one of the reasons why MIDI editing in Logic is revered by many! There's even an object in the Environment called the Transformer. Has a similar functionality but in real time! Let us know if you have any other questions! :) Rounik btw, you may be interested in the Blog Tips area where we are planning on putting more tips on Logic and other apps for free over the coming weeks!
