"Overwrite"-vs-"Splice" edit in Sample Edito
Hi I'm fairly new to Logic and have a basic question... Within the Sample Editor window. Can you select a portion of audio... copy it ... and then past it over another section of audio... Without changing the length of your entire audio file? In other words. In video editing terms, it's the difference between a "Splice" and an "Overwrite" edit. Can you somehow mark a specific IN and Out point inside the Sample Editor and do an Overwrite edit? Cheers and Thanks, Rob

Hi Oatbean and welcome to the forums! Yes, it's possible to do this in the Sample Editor. Here's how : 1. Open your sample in the Audio Editor 2. Select the audio section you want to copy 3. Hit Command-C to copy the selection to the clipboard 4. Select the Hand Tool cursor (By default, the Hand Tool is the secondary tool, so hold command and the Pointer Tool will change into the Hand Tool). 5. The Hand Tool will let you move the selected region without changing the length, so move the selection to where you want to paste. 6. Hit Command V to replace the selection with the clipboard content Warning : This edit will be destructive. In other words, tthe audio file will be permanently changed. Since the Arrange Page is sample accurate, you could do the same edit there without changing the file destructively. Hope it helps! :) Christian
