logic 9 does not have ES1 Beach efx ??
in logic 7 or 8 i remember using a beach setting in the ES1 that created a great wind efx . Its not in 9 .. any idea how i can get that setting back or how to create that raw effect using one of the current settings ? thnx in advance Jay

I don't see a Beach sound in ES1 on my system (and I have pretty much all of the stock stuff for Logic 8 and 9). But for a starting point using the default sound (which I'll assume is the same for all systems), you want to use Noise as the sound source (the selection between EXT and OFF). Set the Wave Mix to the bottom position, and then move the attack and decay sliders to about 3/4 of the way up. That'll give you a decent starting point for surf effects. Additional tips: - set drive to 0 - set resonance to 0 - experiment with the filter type to get the smoothest sound - for wind effects, turn the resonance up and experiment with the filter type to get the desired sound

Hi Jay Richard Lainhart teaches how to do this in the ES1 in one of his synthesis tutiorials, I think its this one: http://www.macprovideo.com/tutorial/avfundamentals201 From memory I think you ramp up the attack, decay and release times, set the oscillator to white noise, then slowly modulate the cutoff frequency with a random wave shape. I could be wrong though, I can get vack to you later about it. but in the meantime I can't recommend Richard's tutorials enough, I think they are essential if you want to synthesise anything! Cheers Hamish
