    Spreading around the CPU usage
Hey guys, It's been a while, but I have a problem I can't seem to figure out (Rounik will probably solve it in 5 seconds)... I'm running a quadcore tower, and many of my software plugins (Kontakt, Omnisphere, etc) will max out my cpu. But its only maxing out one of the 4 cpu's. I check using the Option-X command in Logic. Switching from 32bit-64bit didn't help Hopefully there is a solution... you guys are the best problem solvers I know haha thanks mike

See if these articles help, particularly the first one. Make sure to read it carefully. I encounter the problem of a single pegged core somewhat frequently when my routing gets complex. Sometimes I can track it down, other times the core allocation still seems inconsistent with the explanation. I included the link to TS2111 because sometimes I get this error when I have a core overload. It will say "Sample rate XXXXX recognized (where XXXXX is a seemingly random number), error while trying to synchronize audio and MIDI..." I'm still unclear on the relationship between these 2 problems (sample rate issues vs. overload) but wanted to mention it in case you encounter similar issues. http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3161 http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4426 http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2111 http://support.apple.com/kb/TA24535

Another tip is to try changing the number of Processing Threads in Logic Pro > Preferences > Audio [Devices] from Default to 8 as I think with your dual Quad Core that would give you 8 threads?... If not change to 4 and test out the load. :)
