Formants and chorus voices

Hello. I would like some advice over recording a group of voices.Or to get a single voice recorded multiple times to sound like a 'chorus' of voices. As if by different people.
What I have done in the past is to record my voice in different takes. Then to separate the takes out into different tracks and treat them separately with eq and panning...slight pitch differences..before sending them to a sub-group bus.To sing the consonants softer too.
That was ok but it still sounded too much like me.
I am trying to do this without opting for Melodyne.
Just seeing what Logic 9 has. But without it sounding too gimmicky.
What is there regarding formant manipulation ?
I'd like some suggestions on how to do this...or would Melodyne be better in it's ability to treat formants on separate notes ?
Thank you for any help...I like knowing if I can achieve this in Logic 9 alone.
