Re: Additional content download not complete
Hi Gary Success at last. I reinstalled both the additional and essential download content. All the files are there including the Ultrabeat presets. Your idea about turning off the firewall was a great idea. Thanks so much. No problems getting past the 2GB mark other than taking 2 days to download. I do have a few ???'s to ask. I'm not sure if I should start a new thread but here goes. I have attached a picture of my arrange window. After doing the reinstallation I opened one of the projects that I had been working on and noticed on tracks 3.8.12 and 17 there were these numbers boxed where the instrument icon normally is. Any ideas? Also on track 3 the piano track s in black. I have no dea why. Once again thank you so much for helping out with solving my problem. Brilliant. Hi Dennis, I can't remember exactly what those are. But it has something to do with the MIDI files, and its associations. Do they play back fine? I'll do some researching about it and get back to you.

Hi Dennis, These numbers are associated to the midi data that is saved with the MIDI file. Different instruments are grouped by different numbers/patches. So for example the 36 number on your xylophone represents the 36 patch of a general MIDI file which would playback a xylophone instrument. In one MIDI file there can be a couple of instruments within it. That number will determine what instrument to be played back. Did you import these files MIDI files into Logic?

Hi Gary Sorry for the late reply but I have been away. Firstly, thanks for researching this. I originally imported these files into Garageband and when I got the Logic Pro download I opened the Files in Logic. What I still fail to understand is how I actually got these numbers in the Global Tracks. BTW those files also showed up as EXS files which were never in Garageband. I'm still coming to grips with this app. It's like buying a space ship and trying to fly the thing. Any ideas on how to get back to the symbols? Thanks Denis

These Program change messages are related to the MIDI Event List. Select the MIDI clip and go into the Hyper Editor (Cmd+5). Here you will be able to see the program changes to the MIDI region. If you were using an external MID module or synth, then these program messages would maybe be more important. As these messages would tell the module or synth what type of sound to play (eg. drums, piano, bass, etc...) Peter Schwartz's MIDI Demystified is a great tutorial to watch if you wish to understand MIDI more: http://www.macprovideo.com/tutorial/midi101
