You could try using a Noise gate. Use the Threshold control on the Noise Gate to try an eliminate the low-level noise. There are some very good noise-reduction plugins out there, like iZotope's RX plugin: http://www.izotope.com/products/audio/rx/ What type of warping do you want to do to the voices? Stretching then, pitching them..... Do you have Melodyne? This is an excellent plugin to get these results. We also have some excellent tutorials on Melodyne, on how to change and manipulate audio: http://www.macprovideo.com/tutorial/melodyne101 http://www.macprovideo.com/tutorial/melodyne201-advanced Or you can use the Transpose and Detune functions in Ableton to pitch the audio up or down, and try the warping in Ableton to stretch the audio. Thanks a lot. The only problem is I'm really only trying to use logic for these tasks. Is that possible

Hi Logic Guy, Sorry I got confused as the post was in the Ableton section. Yes, you could do most of this in Logic. Use the Noise Gate to try remove some of the noise. There is also a Noise Reduction plugin which can remove some of the noise, but can also introduce some artifacts if tweaked too much. Try using Flex Time to stretch the audio to the desired length. And you can use the Apple AU Pitch plugin if you wish to pitch the audio up or down. You could also try using the EVOC 20 Filter to process the audio. It has some nifty features on the plugin, like LFOs and Formant Shifts which can really change the vocal sound.

Thanks Gary for the really helpful post. U really helped me out. I don't understand why should I use the flex time editing and also I can't find the noise reduction plugin. One more question. If I wanted to make the music I'm playing in the background sound like it was coming out of a radio how would I do that. Thanks

Using Flex Time you can lengthen or shorten audio drastically. Which will alter the pitch and timbre of the audio. You can get some nice warped audio results with this. The noise Reduction plugin is called, Denoiser. And it is under the Specialized folder. To get the radio effect either use the low cut or Channel EQ (if you use the Channel EQ you will be working with low cut/high-pass). Sweep this down to cut the low frequencies and this will give you a radio effect. You could also add some slight overdrive or distortion as well for added effect.

Hey Gary, thanks for all the advice. You have been a big help for me. I just have one last question. OK. I have this short movie scene and they are riding in a car. I want to put a song that I did in the scene like it's playing on the radio in the car. The song is done and it's a mp3 on my desktop and iTunes. When I drag the song into logic it sounds really fast. I was told to go to the audio bin and right click but it doesn't allow me to change the sample rate only the file format which is mp3. What should I do. THANKS A MILLION.

Change the File Format to either Aiff or Wav. Then it will give you an option for the sample rate and bit depth. Make sure these two match the settings in your project.
