iPad2 as sound source with Logic X/Mavericks
2010 2.8 GHz Quad Mac Pro 16GB RAM, Mavericks 10.9.4, Logic X, Studio One 2, Ableton 9, iPad 2 iOS 7.1.2 Hi, I have a soft synth called Sunrizer on my iPad as well as a couple other EPs and synths. What I would like to be able to do is play Sunrizer from my MIDI keyboard and get the audio into Logic in real time. (I have an IK iRig HD, but this only lets me play guitar through the iPad) I understand there is some way, on the Mac, of interfacing with the iPad by wifi? Please advise, Cheers! Pete

Anybody? I should have said I have a Saffire PRO 14 interface - getting audio out of the iPad with a Y adapter from the headphone socket was easy enough, great results. If I get an IK iRig MIDI 2 device I'll be able to get MIDI in to the iPad. However there must be a way to do this wirelessly?

Hi Gurner, I don't know if there are any wireless solutions. But the iRig MIDI is a good option to send the MIDI to the iPad. And then you can use the headphone out to get audio from the iPad to your audio interface and then record this into Logic. Maybe a better solution will come up soon. Or does anyone else have any ways they have used to get the iPad synths to integrate better with Logic?

Hi Everyone, I hope this link comes out, but basically it tells how the wifi thing can be done: http://news.metaparadigma.de/ios5-workaround-for-ipad-and-iphone-w-ios5-running-animoog-3642/ In Audio MIDI Setup - go to window MIDI Studio - click Big Network - activate Session 1 - click the + sign below the directory and enter your iOS device IP address - (port is 5004) - activate your iOS device - under 'who may connect' choose Anyone - go to Session and click Enabled - Good luck! Cheers! Pete

Hi Gurner, Your question got me thinking, and after some more searching I found an interesting device that might help: http://www.iconnectivity.com/iConnectMIDI2plus It's not wireless but it offers great audio and MIDI integration with iPad audio synths and a DAW. With wireless I read up that there will be a degree of latency if you try to do things through wireless, but this device gives zero signal degradation.
