Re: Score editor
In the above example, I didn't have to use the "align" functions because I entered each line of text in one shot. In other words, I didn't stop lyric entry (by hitting return) and then resume again. But as you know, if you do stop/resume and the alignment of the lyrics are off kilter as a result, select them and use Align Vertically. The horizontal alignment also fell nicely into place too and didn't require any additional editing. However, while messing around to see if I could replicate the behavior you described, I was reminded that there is an alignment parameter for lyrics. See the attached screenshot as to which one I think you should have selected. I'd say this... if you continue having trouble with lyric entry, by far the easiest way to make things right would be to type them over and "follow the protocol" of lyric entry to the letter (no pun intended). Here it is: 1) turn guides on (this will be super helpful!!) 2) select the lyric item in the partbox, select the pencil tool, and click under the first note TROUBLESHOOTING STEP: at this point, hit return/enter to conclude lyric entry. Select that lyric (if not already selected) and click on that alignment thingy in the event parameters. Make sure it's set to what you see in the screenshot. If it's not, change it to what you see there. This should set that parameter for all additional lyrics you enter. Then resume lyric entry: 3) with the lyric item selected in the partbox, choose the pencil tool & click under the next note 4) type the lyric and TAB to the next note. Type, TAB, type, TAB. If you need to skip a note, just hit TAB to move on to the next note. 5) conclude lyric entry with Return or Enter 6) resume lyric entry as needed from Step 3

Peter.....thank you so much. Your suggestion of writing the second verse above the the stanza selecting and dragging them down one complete line at a time did the trick. Thank you...Thank you.

Re: Score editor
Hi Peter, I had enter some questions on Sept 18th and was hoping I could get these answered to finish my project. 1) After I have successfully enter multiple lyrics under each other and used 1st & 2nd endings, how do i condense or eliminate the measures I no longer need because I've repeated lyrics on earlier measures, and continue adding lyrics to the rest of the song? 2) i have a section with 16 measures of rests. How do i consolidate them to one or two measures reading 16 or 8 per measure? 3) While in the score editor, if I actidently double click on the it goes to a black screen that states create a midi region. how do i get back to the original score editor? Thanks, Dave

Hi Dave, 1) To eliminate extra measures, either shorten the ends of the regions by dragging the right edge to the left, or use the scissor tool to cut the regions at the downbeat of the first unneeded measure. Then delete the leftover piece that you don't need. 1a) To continue adding lyrics, just go into those regions and initiate lyric entry with the pencil tool as usual 2) use bar rests (part box, rest palette) 3) the best way to prevent that is to create a score set for the parts you want to display. Then, with that score set selected and showing just what you want to see in the editor, click the link button to turn linking off. This will prevent the display from changing in the event you accidentally (or otherwise) select a different region.

Re: Score editor
Hi Peter, Hi peter, Cutting and dragging worked great as long as i engaged the linking after which allowed me to read the continued part as well. Thanks. I'm on another song and am having problems with alignment. When I highlight and hit control A, the screen lights up, dims and nothing changes. Also for some reason, the script is in bold. I can highlight and go in and change it, but then it reverts to the bold when I start lyrics again? Any ideas? Thanks, Dave
