Main Stage
I am about to purchase Logic and intend to use Main Stage for live work. As I am primarily an electric violinist, what I want to know is Can I go from a totally clean sound (as in a classical violin with big studio reverb) to very processed dirty electic guitar sound all within Mainstage. I have been using the pod X3 Live, it is great for the dirty sounds but I couldn't seem to get it totally clean and no studio reverb. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H28QLY5j6-0 is an example of what I can do with the pod. Thanks Pete

Hi Pete, Welcome to the macProVideo.com forums :) Yes, indeed, Mainstage 1 and 2 can do all that and much more. I watched your video and it appears you have a pedal to control the different effects? Well, in Mainstage you can create what are known as Screen Controls and map those controls to a hardware Controller. e.g. rotary knobs on a Keyboard or a foot controller. This will give you a lot of control over effects. e.g. you could use a button to switch to a new patch or to turn on reverb/distortion, or a knob to control the amount of reverb etc etc. If you've signed up to the macProVideo newsletter then you should receive an email about new tutorial releases... I can say no more ;-) Hope that helps, Rounik

Hi Pete, Good luck with your new Logic journey! If you have any questions pop back here and we'll do our best to help. By the way, if you want some tutorials to help you master Logic the Core Logic 101 would be a good place to start. Also, there is a FREE switchers guide tutorial from GB to Logic which may be helpful too: http://www.macprovideo.com/tutorial/GBLogic :) Rounik
