Comping in Pro Tools
Hi I've gone through most of the Pro Tools videos, but still can't find what I'm looking for. I would like to see the most efficient way for me to say, edit a group of drums (8 channels or so) that have multiple takes. In Cubase/Nuendo, all I have to do is slide the top layer in a group and all the tracks part and show me the next layer. I can keep doing this until I find the part I want. In Pro Tools, since there's only one layer at a time, the work flow seems impossible. I must be missing something here. Can someone point me to a video where someone is editing a group of similar (or drum) tracks and replacing sections of it? This is my most common action - I would love for it to be easier in PT.... Thanks, Johnny

I think you want to use "Playlists." Select Playlists from the Track View Selector pop up menu. You should see all your takes. Hope that helps. SG.

Playlists is a good way to go. This tutorial covers playlists and takes: http://www.macprovideo.com/tutorial/protools10111-exploring-tracks
