New Course: Guitar Legends: In the Box
In his new course 'Guitar Legends: In the Box' trainer and guitarist Gregg Fine explores the tones of three famous guitarists and explains how to recreate them with plugins. The course explores the distinctive guitar tones of Andy Summers [The Police], The Edge [U2], and and David Gilmour [Pink Floyd]. While these guitarists crafted their signature guitar tones by combining various amps, mics, and guitar pedals, Gregg shows how to get those tones in software, using the best amp and effect simulations available to provide the sound of the classic guitar gear that shaped the guitar tones heard on so many hit records. From The Edge's rhythmic delays to Andy Summer's shimmering chorused tones to David Gilmour's use of fuzz and modulation, this course covers all the bases for getting those classic sounds inside the box.

Hi Joe Really enjoying this course but it would be really helpful if Greg could provide the MIDI files he uses so I can compare the sound I get with his? Also, with the Edge setup, is the delay pedal before the pre-amp or in the effects loop of the amp? I'm not familiar with Guitar Rig so it's not clear from the video. Cheers Steve

Hi Steve - Greg should be forwarded any posts you make in this thread [since the course is linked to the thread], so *if he's available* hopefully he'll be able to respond with some clarification..

Hi Steve, The Quad Delay is actually being placed after the amp here. As far as I know, Guitar Rig (at least this version) doesn't have an amp effects loop option. I do recall experimenting with placing the delay before the amp for this video but ended up preferring it at the end of the chain. (Not something you'd typically do in a live situation but, because we're in the box, anything that sounds good is fair game IMO!) With regards to MIDI files, I played the guitar parts live on my Strat so everything is audio. Best, Gregg

Thanks for the reply Greg. Appreciate that you don't have any MIDI to share right now but if you ever update the course (a bit early at the moment, I realise) having a MIDI that matches what I would see and hear on the video would be really helpful to nail the setup. Just a thought... Steve

Hi Steve, As Gregg mentioned, MIDI files are not available since everything is audio, but if you're interested in downloading the actual presets, they are now available on the course page: https://www.macprovideo.com/course/guitar-legends-in-the-box Best, Christian
