    Compatibility: Catalina/Steinberg/GB

(Unquote) Maybe, maybe not—that's really something that should be checked before upgrading to Catalina, which still has issues with *a lot* of software & hardware! AFAICT, Steinberg seems to have licensing software that specs 10.15 (Catalina) compatibility, but it looks like the drivers for the RT2 interface may not be Catalina-compatible until late February. Check out the following Steinberg support pages, but I'd suggest calling them directly to learn the most up-to-date status for your gear. https://helpcenter.steinberg.de/hc/en-us https://www.steinberg.net/en/company/technologies/elicenser.html https://helpcenter.steinberg.de/hc/en-us/articles/360010273659-macOS-Catalina-product-compatibility The most recent version of GarageBand should be (mostly) compatible with Catalina, but users are still reporting a variety of issues with Catalina and all sorts of audio/video applications—even Apple applications, like GB, Logic, and FCPX—so no promises. For future reference, most music/audio users wait around 6 months or so (or even much longer!) before updating to a new OS version, especially one with such significant under-the-hood changes as Catalina. And aways check compatibility with *all* music software (DAWs, etc), hardware (drivers), and plug-ins prior to upgrading.

I tried Cat and it does seem to work in GB. I saw the compat. list and I think it has to do with specific things maybe not everything. btw ,as much as its nice to have digital fx onboard in GB I see that it would be nice to have a stand alone high quaity compressor...I am learning to use compression and it works for boosting acoustic instruments...The issue about not being able to erase the fx is not too bad for me...redoing a track is not too big a deal.. with that in mind what stand alone box would you like for compression (analog?)... and also what do you like for stand alone analog overdrive that really sounds good...?maybe a tube unit..?

(Unquote) Yes, just because a company doesn't officially support a product yet doesn't mean it won't work at all—if you don't run into the specific area(s) of incompatibility then you should be alright until the fully-supported version is ready.. (Quote) What stand alone box would you like for compression (analog?)... (Unquote) New topic—see new thread..
