How do I use third-party guitar amp sim plugins in Garageband?
Hi All, Recently I bought some Nembrini Audio plugins (for guitar). The FX plugins - distortion, reverb etc. - are straightforward. I add them like any other plugin, in the plugin list in the inspection window. The guitar amp sim however also shows up as a plugin. Unfortunately, if I have added a guitar track there is normally a preset amp/pedals/Smart Controls 'pre-loaded'. My question: How best to use that new amp plugin? Instead of a Guitar track, should I add a 'basic' audio track, so the the Amp Designer plugin is not loaded? Then use the plugins? Or should I continue to use the Guitar track approach and simply turn off the AmpDesigner plugin? Is there any difference between the two approaches? Thanks in advance. R

Hi R - There's no difference as far as the third-party amp plug-in is concerned. The only difference is that if you start with a "Guitar" track and swap out Amp Designer for the other plug-in, you'll still have the other effects & processors on that preset, which might be contributing something you like to the original patch. On the other hand, the effects dialed up in those other plug-ins might not work well with the new amp, but you could always bypass them all and then add them in one at a time to see if you still like what they contribute with the new amp sim.
