    Recording Piano
Hello. I am recording a grand piano in a live venue. The piano already had a pickup installed when I started working this venue. It sounds awful. I would like to know if there are any excellent pickup options for acoustic grands? Would I be better served with a good single microphone on the piano? Any specific suggestions are welcome. Thank you, Wayne

Hi. I’ve had pretty good luck so far using a condenser mic on my baby grand at home. Its a simple AT2021 and ran through a simple 2-port A/D converter into my DAW. It sounds pretty good though I am hoping to get a better pre-amp set up to really start exploring around. I’m sure you have already found your solution by now but I found the post interesting as you can imagine. I wonder what you came up with and how it worked out for you? Cheers, Bill
