midi piano and drums, guitar etc.. sounding at same time
Can anyone tell me how to disconect a piano sound so that I don't have to hear it when playing another Logic instrument? Thanks for any help you can offer.

Hi, Can you provide more info please. I'm not quite sure what you mean... Are you using an external MIDI keyboard or a MIDI Controller... are you using Software Instrument tracks with Virtual Instruments as the sound source? If the later is true, make sure you are not record enabling both tracks while playing the drums... But, please give more info on what you are doing and how you are doing it. Cheers Rounik

There may be a setting on your keyboard/controller (if that is what you are using to play the drum tracks) for "Local". Turn that off and you should stop hearing the internal sounds (piano - if that is what you are hearing.) But, as Roumik said, more info will help.

what type of tracks have you set up? which track is selected? Are you using an EXS24? Which instrument preset are you using? Have you tried out the suggestions from my previous post and KC's post? Rounik

Hola again. I am using M-Audio Pro Sessions Producer Afro-Cuban Percussion MULTiFORMAT DYNAMiCS in the EXS 24 sampler. I only have a few instrument tracks being used at the same time with prerecorded trombones parts. I didn't know where to look on the laptop's keyboard to find a way to turn off or on anything. Oh, there was at one point where I was able to play the conga sound or trombone samples without that piano being in the way, but that didn't last long and I don't know what I did to make it revert back again right away. Also, even though the piano samples were sounding off at the same time, they don't record into the track when I listen back, there is just the instrument that I intended to use. Hope you can help.

Also, I'm using a pop piano through the exs 24 and violins are sounding at the same time. Frustrated to say the least.

Hi, Do you have both tracks record enabled like in the picture below? If it is, then make sure only ONE track/channel is record enabled when you want to play ONE channel's instrument. Also, any chance you can take a screen show of your environment's clicks and ports layer and post it here? Cheers Rounik

Hi Rounik, its not making that double sounds now. I'm going to guess that perhaps, that is exactly what is happening, that I had two buttons enabled. I have many tracks and didn't notice two red buttons at the same time. I'm guessing of course. I guess I will find out the next time that occurs. Thank you for your suggestion.
