The Stereo Spread (from the Logic Studio Instruments and Effects manual p.125):
"extends the stereo base by distributing a (selectable) number of frequency bands from the middle frequency range to the left and right channels.:
The Spreader (from the Logic Studio Instruments and Effects manual p.149):
"effect periodically shifts the frequency range of the original signal in a nonlinear way, changing the perceived width of the signal."
Basically, the Stereo Spread, from my understanding, gives you more control over the number of frequency bands and the frequencies that are "spread" across the stereo field and works in a more linear way than the Spreader. As the manual points out, do be careful not to spread low frequencies as this tends to detract from the energy from your speakers...
