I should preface this by saying I've got half a dozen mpv tutorials - and all are fantastic value, with very useful information. I can't wait for a rock mixing/pop mixing tutorial to come out. But I have a couple of small comments on the mastering tut. There are a couple of typos - 1800's should be 1800s, since it's a plural rather than a possesion. (If it was shortened, it'd be '00s rather than 00's.) And on 'headroom demystified', there's a sentence including: "to just equal it's highest amplitude" - there shouldn't be an apostrophe in 'its'. And the other thing - although this might be unnecessarily personal - is that Steve's voice is just a bit difficult to listen to on this particular tut. It sounds a bit patronising - like he's explaining to a group of children, and every single sentence he says rises at the end, like each line of dialogue is some fantastic revelation. Obviously I don't intend this to be offensive in any way - it's just my particular taste that I'd prefer a naturalistic voiceover - like you were in a studio & explaining techniques to a friend as per the mixing electronica/R&B tuts. No offense intended on either point - I appreciate what's being done by the mpv people and it's a fantastic resource for any musician or producer. And I hope you guys get over your various recent troubles asap. Now for that mixing commercial pop/rock tutorial!

I like how steve H talks thruogh his tutorials, I think that when i listen to most other tutorials (Like the ones you get on youtube!) the talker in the videos speak with a monotone voice that can be boring and it prevents me from concentrating.

I thought the Mastering tutorial was quality.Same as all the tutorials I have purchased. The nit-picking on the language is a bit harsh.I too notice these things but as long as the teaching reaches a musical result it's ok.It's understandable. Incidentally , you mis-spelt ' possession'.Or should that be ' mis-spelled' ? I dunno. We have more time than Steve to check on these things.I like the way he teaches and varies the tone.

As much as it still makes sense to spell coherently on a messageboard or text message, those mediums are far more transient and irrelevant than a tuturial people pay to download and keep for a long time. But, as I hope I made clear in the original post, both points were very minor & one was particularly subjective - with no offence intended.

...dunno what a 'tuturial' is, but I bloody want one now! But yeah, pop/rock mixing tut would be awesome. Really helps to have this stuff taught in the form of a session that we can download into logic and then take through the process with the tutorial.

I'm glad you mentioned the voice. I was just introduced to this website b/c I need to learn about mastering. After listening to the sample tutorials I was a bit turned off by the narrator but decided to suffer through it since it was very informing. I still haven't purchased yet b/c I would like a hard copy of the tutorials just in case something happens to my system. I'll probably end up downloading though b/c I can't find any place that sells the DVD's.
