N.E.D.3
Great day yesterday Rounik the new baby is here and I've to say it's really a wonder! I'll have to ask you a few things in these next days I guess... Let's start with NED 3: I've installed it in MBP and it's OK, I already have all the videos of version 1.1.1 copyed in external HD and connected with MBP, but it seems not "see" them. What am I doing wrong? I don't think I have to download everythyng again. Or? grazie Rounik e a presto Roberto

Ok Rounik, I've solved it. It was a problem of path in the NED preferences. BTW, would you put all the tutorials in the MBP internal HD or in the external firewire HD? I would put them in the external (it's 8/9 Giga). Do you agree? ciao roberto

Hi Roberto! Please accept my congratulations on your new baby ;) Glad you've figured out the issue... Well, it's a good question. On my MBP I tend to store the tutorials on the internal drive so that when I'm out I have access to them. However, I may begin keeping them on an external drive if I begin to run out of room on my internal drive... Hope that helps, Rounik

Well Rounik, I tell you, it's a really fantastic machine! I could never belive that a notebook could be faster than a G5 Quad, but it really is. Such a joy to put my hands on. Thank you for your answer. I've actually put everything I could on an external drive (I've a very good 7200 rpm firewire - ...as a friend of mine suggested me), and when I'll be around I'll see what is better). And Logic 9 too!! Seems everything works perfectly untill now. I hope. As soon as the adrenalina will slow down I'll start to experiment with a wonderfull present I've got two days ago. But I need more concentration for it. Ah, one question Rounik: how to export my templates I've created in Logic 8 to Logic 9? OK my friend, I'll go back tryng to discover some new toy. thanks a lot to you, as always Roberto

Hey Roberto, I'm really glad to hear you're enjoying it! It really is amazing when you compare a MBP to an old G5 or G4. Well, I love getting presents too. Hope you find a use for this one with your current setup. As for your templates. If they are already showing in Logic 8 on the new MBP then no need to transfer them anywhere as Logic 9 looks in the same location :) But if you are transfering them from another machine you will find them: Users / Library / Application Support / Logic / Project Templates / Enjoy the new toy! How are you enjoying Snow Leopard? :) Rounik

Ok Rounik, done! Thank you. I'm seeing strange crashes with Logic 9 when working with VSL and Akoustik Piano (Native Instrument). Nothing drammatic but... I'll try to understand what I'm doing that disturbs the baby and, if I don't solve it, I'll let you know. Can you see more instability in Logic 9? Well, maybe I just need to put my hands on and see the differences. Ciao Rounik, stammi bene Roberto

Hi Roberto, Have you got the latest updates for VSL and Akoustik Piano? I don't use either of the above... Don't know how stable they are in Logic 9. I had a few minor glitches in Logic 9, but since 9.0.1 (at least on my system) I have not found it more or less buggy than Logic 8.0.2. My only heavily used plugins are Omnisphere and Stylus RMX and they seem to behave quite well here - although I'm still running Logic 9.0.1 on OSX 10.5.7. I think there are a couple of bugs floating around still and because Snow Leopard and Logic 9 are still very new hopefully in a future update to these apps and third party plugins this will resolve any issues you are having. Stammi bene Roberto! :) Rounik

Ciao Rounik Yes, I've the latest version of both plug ins, but I guess I've discovered what it was. I don't have to do a chance of setting meanwhile Logic is playng (it doesn't axcept it with very heavy plug ins). It's enough to know it... I ask your opinion about the last Apple monitors. I'm used to work with two monitors on G5 (two old big LaCie) and now many operations are more complex with only one. I've discovered with disappointement that the previous Apple monitors are not on the market anymore (those with no black in the corner AND WITH NO GLOSSY SCREEN!). What do you think about the last ones? Do you know any way to get the previous ones? Ok Rounik, thanks for your holy patience. your italian friend Roberto

Hmmm... Apple Monitors... They are very nice, and I agree that Monitors with Glossy screens are not what I would want to buy either! I know many Audio Pros who use non Apple monitors. I hear that Dell produce good monitors (matte screens) and are more reasonably priced. Other options would be monitors by Samsung, HP, Acer... etc, but I'm not very experienced with their quality etc. But if you really want Apple Monitors... well, I'd recommend waiting. Apple very rarely let consumers know when new updates and products are coming out, but this site features a buying guide and based on past experience and 'insider rumours' suggests the Apple Cinema Displays are due for an update: http://buyersguide.macrumors.com/#Apple_Cinema_Displays : ) Best Rounik

Yes, good idea. So I'll save some money too! BTW, I guess I'd better open a new thread for the future: we started talking about NED and we are at Apple monitors! Some time I forget I'm not freely talking in front of a beer with a friend. ... So life goes A presto e grazie Roberto
