    Master fader…
Hi Rounik, It's been a while since my last post. I hope you and everyone here are doing great. So, I've got two questions: 1. I just watched mixing pop in protools which I find very cognitive and I noticed that he, I mean Chris Potter creates a master fader for entire song to use some dynamic, level meters and analyzer plugins. How can I do this in my logic 8 or do I have to add the plugins to my main output? I've heard that it's not good to add anything on your main output when you mixdown for mastering. 2. Same video, "using samples" chapter. He uses protools Soundreplacer plugin. How can I do the same in logic to add/replace audio samples? Many thanks, Archie

Hi Archie, I'll have to check out those Pro tools videos again... You can add them to your Main output and bypass them when you want to bounce the mix if you wish or... In Logic you can route (send) desired channels to an Aux via a Bus. This way you can easily build sub mixes. You can build as many as you wish with 'master effects' on each one, just remember to mute the ones you don't want to hear! In fact, Logic's ability to route signal flow is second to none... it's so flexible! I think Olav Basoski explains this concept well in the Mixing Electro in Logic and Jonathan Perl does a useful section on creating headphone mixes in Logic in the Logic 303 TNT2, video 28. Hope that helps, Rounik
