From L8 to 9.
Hi folks, I'd like to move from Logic 8 to 9 (+ Snow Leopard). In this regard, I have a few questions: first of all, is everything works smooth now, I mean any problems or bugs still appears? Secondly, I have some stuff like Acousticas IR's and EXS saved samples, presets etc or any other plugins/instruments. Do I have to install them again after L8 is replaced? (I'm aware that L8 will remain, it's just about L9). Also I have 33GB left on my iMac :( Is it ok? Many thanks.

Hi Foxcub, Logic 9.1 and Snow Leopard 10.6.2 are giving me great performance. There are a couple of tiny bugs... but nothing that's a show stopper for me. Can I direct you to this extensive thread on installing Snow leopard and new version of software. In this thread I recommend installing a new OS on a separate partition so you can test out how all your 3rd party plugins and specific hardware responds: https://www.macprovideo.com/forum/other/mac-os&id=23731 Sure, you can re-install over the top of your existing system. Personally I prefer to clone my system drive and any important files and then format it and then install from the SL disc. Doing it my way, will take you a lot longer and mean that you have to re-install all the Logic content and transfer your samples and settings manually from your cloned system. Installing SL ontop of your existing system will take you a fraction of the time and will probably work as well. If content like factory samples, user samples, settings etc are there, then L8 and L9 will be able to share them. No need to re-install custom EXS24 Instruments :) 33GB is a decent amount of free space to have left on your system drive. External Firewire drives are getting cheaper these days - so if you need more storage space. Hope that helps Rounik
