Arpeggiator and delay line parameters
Hiyo I'm wondering if someone out there can clarify the arpeggiator and delay line parameters. In particular, in the arpeggiator: - resolution means beat subdivision, right? - what does the length represent? - snap means it'll quantize my attack, right? in Delay: How do I measure the delay time? i.e. how do I make sense of repeats and delay. the delay numerical representation is confusing me. What are some good tutorials for these two effects aside from the one in the Logic 7 environment chapter? ...and lastly, on a side note, is there any way to configure note length value in the piano roll editor during step editing without having to depend on the previous note played? Thanks! Misha

Hi Misha, The best tutorials to learn more about the Environment objects and how they work (especially the Arpeggiator and Delay Line) are here: http://www.macprovideo.com/tutorial/logicTipsAndTricks Specifically, if you click on the outline tab you'll find Arpeggiators are covered in videos 08-10. Also check out videos 57-64 for arps and delay lines. All the details on calculating delay time are explained there I believe... if not let me know. Basically it's important to know what division setting you have set in Logic's Transport too. ... be prepared to use a calculator as the Delay Line object uses tick values! I'd really recommend going through the TNT1 and TNT2 tutorials - so much cool environment stuff at your finger tips and when you're ready the TNT3 is in progress and new sections are being released every month. Hope that helps Rounik

Thanks so much, Rounik I hadn't thought to look through the older versions of Logic, but I guess that makes sense. Misha

No problem Misha! The TNT series tutorials are excellent IMHO. Let me know if you have any other questions :) Enjoy! Rounik
