Help - green between the ears
As a beginner to first home studio, I need advice in putting my EX5R Tone Generator into the loop with Master Keyboard(Yamaha P-200) and hooking it up to a t.c electronics Konnect 8 interface. Pls Note: I have already used the set up assistant in Logic to help system to recognize equipment but my problem is what would be the best way to proceed with hooking these devices up correctly to my interface before I go into the Environment. In other words I would like advice of how to hook these up in the most logical way to get the best results with working with external and internal devices. http://www.tcelectronic.com/Konnekt8 Interface See back of unit pics http://www.ex5tech.com.pics.html See pics on back hook up http://yamaha.com/yamahavgn/CDA/ContentDetail/ModelSeriesDetail/0,,CNTID%25253D853%252526CTID%25253D206900%252526LGFL%25253DY,00.html http://www.yamaha.com/yamahavgn/CDA/ContentDetail/ModelSeriesDetail/0,,CNTID%25253D1078%252526CNTYP%25253DPRODUCT,00.html Note: Prior hooking up to my t.c electronic interface I have this configuration with my EX5R connected to P-200 Master Keyboard. I had the Midi out to> Ex5R's Midi In jack and the Aux. Out L&R going to > the Aux In L & R of my P-200 Keyboard. What I need is know how the hook this to my t.c electronics (Konnect 8) then to computer? It would really help me, if someone could have a look at these links "above" help me to hook up the midi connections of all 3 devices. Scott

I found the answer as soon as I opened the Logic Pro 8, User Manual in regards to my question of hooking up my tone generator to my system at home. Boy it was right their, I really feel foolish. I Just love the new look and feel of Logic Studio. Now I can proceed with learning the goodies that are in this great package.

Glad you solve that on your own Scott, the user manual is usually a great help an faster to solve small issues that we don't know or recall. Also, it's astonishing how easy and fast Logic 8 is. best regards, Jorge

Hello Jorge Costa; Thank you for you reply, it was the first. Yes I did find some answers to my questions, but I still have some issues. I'll get to the point of the problem. I currently have a T.C Electronics Konnekt 8 Interface, which I plug midi in from my Yamaha p-200 (controller - master keyboard) but when I throw in my EX5R Tone Generator by Yamaha that when I have problems??? On page 91-92 in the Logic Pro 8 Manual it shows 3 diagrams with some explanation of three sinerios. The first diagram on pg 91 is how I had is set up currently. On page 92 first diagram is how I should be doing it. problem is that the Konnekt 8 does not have and extra midi out port. They suggest that I use Midi Thru port to EX5R. What I would like to do is ensure that I could use some of the controls and sounds in this good unit(EX5R). If possible could you get back to me, to let me have some idea as how to proceed, with external devices as well as setting it up internal within Logic Studio 8. Perhaps I should bought the D24 by T.C Electronics instead? Thanks; Scott
