Hi, Is it possible to synchronize the tempo on two different loops. Can I quantize on loop or single out one track and change the tempo on one track only. If I can do this, maybe I can synchronize the two different tempos? Any thoughts on this are appreciated. Thanks! Roz

Hi Roz, Do you know the tempos of both the audio files/loops? Are they already Apple Loops? Do you have the "Follow tempo" ticked in the Regions Inspector box on the left? Logic's tempo grid applies to all tracks/objects in the project.... so you can't specify an exact tempo for track 1 to be different to track 2. However, you can time stretch an audio file to fit.... but it involves figuring out or knowing the tempo of the original... which is easy to find out. You could then make one loop into an apple loop and import it into the project so they both match. Hi, Thanks for interesting information. The two loops I am speaking of are apple loops and they appear to be in the same tempo. They just don't jive very well though close. Maybe I will try to change the rhythm in the piano roll editor. Would this work? Any suggestions? Roz

Hi Roz, If both Apple Loops are in the same project and both have the "Follow tempo" checked then they will playback at the Project tempo (you can set this in the Transport Bar). It does sound like the groove of the loops may be different... but it's impossible for me to say as you don't mention the names of the loops... Even though a loop plays back at the same tempo as another doesn't mean it's "groove" or "feel" will match the other. Yes, if it's a green apple loop you can open the Piano Roll and edit the notes manually. If it's a blue (audio) apple loop, and you're using Logic 9, then you can flex the audio loop. I will check the transport bar and see if I can find the follow up tempo you are talking about. The names of the two loops are: Latin El clan bass 1 and Latin El Clan guitar No. 5. It would be great if you would check these. I would really appreciate it. Thanks Roz

Hi Roz, The Follow-tempo checkbox is only available for audio apple loops not MIDI apple loops. Are they green, or did you drag them onto existing audio tracks? No need for a follow tempo for MIDI regions as the MIDI data fits to the tempo. The Follow tempo checkbox can be found (for audio loops) like so: 1. Select the loop/region in the Arrange area. 2. In the Inspector make sure you can see the Region Parameters area. There will be a "follow tempo" checkbox. I have checked both loops by: - Opening a new project. - Finding the loops in the loop browser. - dragging each one to their own software instrument track. - they sound fine to me, but you may wish to edit the groove of the bass depending on the style of music you are trying to produce. Blue loops (Audio regions) do have a 'Follow Tempo' option. You need to edit the MIDI note events in the region manually if you wish the 'feel' / 'groove' of the part to be different. Thanks Rounik! That's what I did, I creating a bass line manually and it sounds a lot better. Roz I'll put this in a new thread..... When I make an edit on a loop, moving this new loop to fit snuggly to the beginning of a measure or bar sometimes doesn't work. I have tried to click the beat and bar function, doesn't help either. any suggestions?
