Channelizer ? Midi on/ Midi release velocity
I would like to say first that , despite i never post anything, the tutorial tnt3 is great ! And i have learn a lot of stuff from all os you guys ! I have an issue cause my midi korg keyboard and my kyborad controller Alessis Q25 does transmit note off midi message ! I would like to know if there is any way i can convert the midi relvel 64 to a midi note off to be able to use the channelizer showed by steve ? I would like to do so to avoid to buy another keyboard ? or maybe changing something that instead to respond to note off msg for changing midi channel it respond to RevVel 64 to change the midi channel ? I hope you understand me ? Sorry for my poor english ! I am not a expert in this stuff and keyboard as i am a guitarist ! Thanks Denis.

If the keyboards are transmitting a note message with a release velocity of any value, then it is definitely generating note-off messages. That's because note-off messages are the only kind of MIDI message that include a release velocity value. However, there are 2 different kinds of note-off messages. The other kind is a note-on message with a velocity value of zero. Is this the kind of message you want?

Thanks ski for your reply ! I am trying to do things that Steve does in his tutorial but (it seems ) i can't make it work cause i have different kind of note off message ! If i click directly from the keyboard object- input note - in the environment window on C4 i have (in the monitor object) a note status + midi channel 1 + C4 + A Velocity value follow by a another note status+ midi channel 1 +C4 +note off. But this is not the case from my keyboards i got the same first (in the monitor object) a note status + midi channel 1 + C4 + A Velocity value follow by a crossed note status (i don't know what kind of status it is)+ midi channel 1 + C4 + a value 64 ! In the midi event i can see for this last type of message Rel Vel ! Well my problem is that if i try to do what Steve does in his tutorial i can not achieve what he did cause i can't and i don't know what kind of setup i have to do in the transformer object to alter the Rel Vel !

Try this: Between the SUM output of the physical input object and the sequencer input, cable a transformer set up like this: BTW, the crossed-out note status indicates a "true" note off message (the only kind that can include a release velocity value). If you'd like more information on the different kinds of note off messages, may I suggest you check out chapter 16 of my tutorial, MIDI 101: MIDI Demystified. It's 6 minutes and 42 seconds that will change your note-on/note-off life! : - ) http://www.macprovideo.com/tutorial/midi101

Thousand time thank you Ski ! I will try definetly the setup you did in the transformer ! And for sur will take the tutorial MIDI 101. My knowledge is poor in midi and i need to understand more about it. I have used logic for years more for audio since the version 5 on pc and now on mac since version 8 but never try to dig in the environment window in the past (brain of Logic), that i realize how powerfull can be Logic ! Thanks to all the people from macprovideo, you show really good stuff !
