Move a region, create some silence...
Here's a new one. I've encountered this over the past week a few times, in more than one project. If I move a region (audio or MIDI), upon hitting Play, all other regions go silent, and sometimes the one I've just moved as well. I'm currently working on a piece of music and have a dozen tracks solo'd, and tried moving a midi region 2 bars. I hit Play, and all I hear is the track with the recent move. If I undo, all is fine. In this case, I have automation I wanted to move with the region, but the only way I see to move things is to expand the region, go into the piano roll and drag the notes where I want them. Then I'll have to select the automation and drag it to the right spot as well. Any thoughts on what might be causing this?

No thoughts sorry, but i'd love to know - it happened to me too yesterday! Same scenario - a bunch of instrument tracks in solo mode, I moved one midi region and the entire rest of the track muted. it worked once i took everything out of solo though, did you try that? H

I tried that, and it doesn't seem to help. One workaround I found is to cut and paste the regions, instead of manually dragging them, but it still seems hinky (technical term)... Funny, I wonder if others are encountering this. Has there been an update recently, of Logic or the OS?

There have been a few updates for both, but I haven't updated either for some time, and this only happened yesterday to me. I'm not sure if its an issue thats been around for a while. it has only happened once to me, and in very particular circumstances - I was using chord memorizers in the environment to trigger other instrument tracks, and some tracks were in solo. And when I took the tracks out of solo it all worked OK again. Mysterious..

Is it only with one project? Or on a couple?

Also interested to know which versions of Logic and OS X you're running. And logic in 32 bit or 63 bit mode?

Hey folks! Thanks for the interest, its got more weird for me. The tracks don't go right after I unsolo them... although the bassline drops in and out sometimes. Have a look, maybe it'll work for you?? http://www.box.net/shared/pclnbqu9y1onizgruu9j Snow Leopard 10.6.8 Logic 9.1.3 32 bit I haven't heard of 63 bit Rounik but it sounds good to me! :)

Instant update - it all works on first playback, but try moving one of the midi regions when all the tracks are in solo! no more bass and drum H

Hi Hamish, Have you come right with this? I have run the project on my G5 with Logic 9.0 and 10.5.8, and I have run it on my Macbook Pro with Logic 9.1.1 and 10.6.6. Both play back the project fine. Even when I move the regions around, and continue playback

I'm running Logic 9.1.5 (in 63.5 bit mode), OS 10.6.8. And today, I can't replicate the problem. Happy about that, but it still leaves a lingering WHY in my head...
