    Olav Basoski
Dear Macprovideo, I use Logic. I've just been checking out Olav Basosky's tutorials on creating great dance floor sounds in Ableton Live and trying to apply the principles to the ES2 in Logic with limited success so far. Could you ask (the fantastic) Olav to produce some sound creation tutorials for Logic users, please?

Hi Tim Thanks for the request. I believe Olav's weapon of choice these days is Ableton Live... Have you checked out his two Logic based tutorials? Thanks Rounik

Olaf's Logic and Ableton Dance tutorials are great. I refer back to them on a continuous basis. Definitely worth the purchase. What are you trying to achieve with the ES2? If you give us some more details maybe we can let you know which tutorials will be more suited.

I have indeed studied Olav Basosky's Logic Tutorials very carefully. They are absolutely brilliant... fantastic tips and excellent teaching style and he has such a lovely voice... oh dear... too much information... Anyway, wonderful though they are, he does not go into using a synth to create great percussion sounds from scratch (which he does in Ableton). If he covered that area in Logic, it would really complete the package! Best regards, Tim

Hi Tim You can actually get pretty close with the ES2 by following along with Olav's Ableton vids. A lot of the ideas are exactly the same, and the ES2 can do everything the Ableton synths can do - just a few differences. For example, its harder to make the initial pitch modulation of a drum hit, which Olav makes it look so easy to do in Ableon. I found a rough workaround by using envelope 1, but it is not quite the same. Having said that, I have managed to use the ES2 to make my own versions of every sound that Olav makes, and to my ear they sound pretty good. I cna see form your other thread that you are working through the ES2 vid with Steve H, so I suggest you have a go with creating your own sounds first and learn how to use the differnet modulations in the ES2, then have another crack at 'traslating' Olav. I think the basses would be a good place to start. get back in touch when you start on a sound and I'll dig out what I did. Cheers Hamish
