Hey y'all. I'm hoping someone has some helpful suggestions for me on this. I have a recording of a (very dynamic, extremely talented singer performing his one man show. It's a great recording, except for the fact that he was not used to the microphone, and there are a lot of "pops" on pretty much every plosive (D, P) and also some troublesome T's. Is there any way to get rid of them? Or even reduce them? The recording is a stereo track, so no way to affect the vocal without affecting accompaniment. Is there anything within Logic (or, I also have Waves Diamond bundle), that is good at this? Or is there a separate plugin available that is good at this? I'm willing to spend some bucks if it will help. Thanks in advance. M

Hi Morry, It's pretty tough to remove plosives after the fact... you could manually go through and use automation on the volume, but this can lead to unnatural sounding vox... The Desser plugin is useful for reducing/removing ssss and chhh sounds... Alternatively, make a backup of your original audio performance and take one copy into STP. There you can use the "Clicks and Pops" Analysis functions to help fix the problem. I'd highly recommend checking out iZotope's RX Advanced (pricey - but soooo worth it IMHO) as a way to bring what might seem like unusable audio back to life. It's the closest to magic restoration that I've come across to date. Let us know how you get on. R

Rounik, Thanks for the suggestion. I'm looking into the iZotope plugin you suggested. It is a bit pricy, going to see if my audio guy can give me a deal, or at least spread the cost out over a few payments. I looked at the "preview" videos on the website, and I was blown away. Wow. If anything can help me it's this plugin...

Usually it's enough to cut low end, try below 70 and go up till you will listen pops disappear. Better use, next time, an anti-pop filter beyond the mic. [url]http://www.soundcheckstudio.it[/url]

Thanks. I'm having some pretty outstanding results with the iZotope. It's going well. And yes, most are in the low frequency. Sadly, the use of pop filter was out of my control. M
