    Transpose midi ?
I think this is an easy one that I just can't figure out. I'm looking for a tool that will transpose midi data from one key signature to another.. Is there a tool in logic to do this? Thanks, Shaun

One option is to use the "Transposition" parameter of the "Inspector" (Logic 7 Parameter box). The other is to use the Arrange or Score local "Functions / Transform / Transposition" menu. Is that what you were looking for ?

Hey Christian, thanks for responding. I suppose I could audition using the inspector...I was looking more for a tool to actually modify a file's contents. I will try to decode :( the transposition function from the score menu...how un-intuitive is that UI! Cheers, Shaun PS> I'm sure there must be a piece of freeware out there to do this..

Hi J.F. I'll have a look at what you suggest for the midi stuff. I thought this would be a no-brainer - just read in a source file, configure it to 'transpose to G# please' and out plunks a midi file in G#. Thanks for following up - I too got L8 loaded on my G4 and everything is 'pretty good'. 70% of my workflow is unhindered, however, I do see small wait times when loading/searching loops, or instantiating a 'heavy' AU like Stylus. Other than that, I refuse to whine about L8 performance. On the graphics side of things, I _would_ like to see the bottom transport bar to be removable and some changes made to floating windows (how about a floating window, with all the menus?) but that's no big deal. You're absolutely right about content - my space is at a premium too - my 93 gb drive is about 93% full :). I'll work on that when I'm bored some day in an airport. Best Regards, Shaun

You have another option too : a Key Command! By default, Option-up arrow and Option-down arrow will transpose up and down by one semi-tone every event selected in the Piano Roll or Score window. By the way, using the Functions-Transform-Transposition window is not as difficult as it seems. Just select all the events you want to transpose (hit command-A to select all the notes), enter how many semi-tone up or down you want to transpose under "Add" then click on Operate Only.
