    Sound module patch names
Love logic and am trying to use same tools in logic as I have been the last 8 years in DP. The question is, how do I import my sound module patch names into Logic and, does Logic have a DEFAULT PATCH setting which will enable it to load the correct sounds each time I load a song. Core midi is already configured and all the lists of the sound modules are in core midi, motif es, fantom, roland xp-50, and roland xv-3080. I can see every one of these patch names in DP, and it locks every sound with the default patch.

For the patches to be loaded after loading your project, "Used instrument MIDI settings" needs to be checked in "File/Project Settings/Midi".

DP uses device and name files (.middev & .midnam) that are stored in your Library>Audio>Midi Devices>MOTU folder on your hard drive. Even though these are set up in your core midi, Audio Midi Setup, Logic does not access them. So the only way to get your synth's patch names into logic is either type them in one by one or copy paste from a text document. There is a handy program called cherry picker, that allows you to open and edit midnam files, you can also use it to do the copy and pasting into Logic. some of the synth's you own may already have environments created for them, with all the patch names. do a google search for Logic environments for your synth's. one place where I found a few is http://www.swiftkick.com. Also the roland web site has some in there download section Hope this helps Don

I down loaded cherry picker and I've got Cherry Picker to recognize the motif sounds in tht motu folder . What do I do next . If I could get my patch names in Logic , that would be awsome . I need to use my sound modules during my Logic learning process . Logic is a very deep program . Its going to take a while . I want to work in logic and learn at the same time . If I can solve the patch lisy problem it would be great Thanks

I use cherry picker just to copy the names and then paste them into my Multi instrument representing my synth in Logic. You need to set up a multi instrument in your environment read page 214 Logic 7 manual or Page 883 Logic 8 manual. After you figure out how to set it up you can copy your patch names out of cherry picker. open the motif .midnam, and you will see all the preset banks. click on the left in the checkbox to open the bank, on the top left there is a box that says copy. Choose that, and copy the names to text edit from there you can paste them into the appropriate bank in Logic. pay attention to the bank select commands for each preset bank (B0 & B32) so you can set up the correct ones in your multi instrument Don
