How to lock a live sax section (2 altos) to a MIDI sax?
Hi, I've got a track on the go with my daughter, Emily. She has played a sax part in MIDI (EXS24 Bari). This is a sixteen bar sax section for 2 saxs. In order to bring more life to the sound, I had a friend play the parts from the score. The trouble is the live saxs don't perfectly follow the original MIDI part. The differences are quite small, like one note held a bit shorter on the live sax here and there. Is there a good way to lock the live sax to the MIDI, without re-recording? I'm betting there is, please point me the right (easiest) way. All The Best Gurner

Hullo, Gurner. The only thing I can think of straight away is to use Flex Time and then go along and chop up the part into workable regions.Engaging Flex Time where needed. I'd use Monophonic mode and just play around with the lengths of notes here and there.Steve H has a set of tutorials on Flex Time.Just a case of lengthening or shortening the relevant notes. You could also look at quantising too. You have Flex Pitch now too in Logic X which is primarily used for editing vocals but can be used for creative purposes beyond that too.

Thanks Logicluvva, Yes, I reckon that's the way forward. I'm on L9 (and staying there, unless I can find a 64bit driver for my Tascam FW-1884 desk, which seems to only exist for Windows) I've actually got that Steve H tut, so I'll be digging in! Cheers!
